Caroline Lufkin (stage name Caroline) is an Uchina'a-born Lewchewan-American musician and younger sister of Japanese pop artist Olivia Lufkin. Caroline's songs feature dozens of live acoustic instruments, including pianos, harps, bells, guitars, strings and hand drums, and use no samples. Caroline performed in Taiwan's Formoz Festival along with Nanase Aikawa on July 29, 2006. She was invited by her Taiwanese record distributor company, White Wabbit Records. Originally from Okinawa, Japan, Caroline Lufkin moved around a lot by the time she had graduated from the Berklee School of Music in Boston in 2003. After graduating, Caroline moved to Tokyo and began working on an album. Before signing with her current label, she had been working on an album in the Japanese music industry where they were grooming her to be a Japanese pop singer. However, she eventually quit due to their difference in views on her music stating that "they kept on telling me to change things and I didn't want to change them... They were trying to make the music super-pop, and I couldn't quite deal with it."
