The group gained popularity in 1994 following the release of its debut album, August and Everything After, which featured the hit single "Mr. Jones". The band's influences include Van Morrison, R.E.M., Mike + The Mechanics, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and The Band. They received a 2004 Academy Award nomination for the song "Accidentally in Love", which was included in the film Shrek 2.

I agree with HILCASE. Their song lyrics are poignant, deep and abtract. I like how we're able to make our own interpretations. I like to listen to their songs when I am alone. There work is just beautiful.
Nearly all of their song lyrics are so moving and deep. I remember listening to August and Everything After with my parents when I was literally 4 and breaking the CD from overuse at 15. What a truly great band.
Time and Time Again is probably their best work ever, great song!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE this song it is sooo moving. I watched a dance done by a black girl and white boy from charlotte. It was amazing I almost cried.

I think Mr. Jones was the first music video I ever experienced (or the first to leave a memorable impression atleast)... and I still love the band to this day. Their latest album is just as good as August and Everything After if you ask me.
