Elvis Costello (born Declan Patrick MacManus 25 August 1954) is an English musician and singer-songwriter, with Irish ancestry. Costello came to prominence as an early participant in London's pub rock scene in the mid-1970s, and later became associated with the punk rock and New Wave musical genres, before establishing his own unique voice in the 1980s. Steeped in wordplay, the vocabulary of Costello's lyrics is broader than that of most popular songs, and his music has drawn on dozens of genres. Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote, "Costello, the pop encyclopedia, can reinvent the past in his own image". Wikipedia |

(Sam Lewis and Rezso Seress) Sunday is gloomy, my hours are slumberless Dearest, the shadows I live with are numberless Little white flowers will never awaken you Not when the black coach of sorrow has taken you Angels have no thought of ever returning you Would they be angry if I thought of joining you? Gloomy Sunday | | Gloomy is Sunday, with shadows I spend it all My heart and I have decided to end it all Soon there'll be flowers and prayers that are sad, I know Let them not weep, let them know that I'm glad to go Death is no dream, for in death I am caressing you With the last breath of my heart I'll be blessing you Gloomy Sunday | | Dreaming, I was only dreaming | | I wake and I find you asleep in the deep of my heart, deep Darling, I hope that my dream never haunted you My heart is telling you how much I wanted you Gloomy Sunday |
