Gala is referred to as an "international cult dance artist" because of her minimalist black garb and her innovation in music (blending the driving dance beats of the nineties with pop rock song-writing) Gala wrote and composed the album Come into My Life containing the hits: Freed from Desire, Let a Boy Cry and Come into My Life. She was awarded Best Female Artists of the year at the COFA Awards (Celebration of Female Artists) in the UK and Best Italian Artist in the World in 1998. With its signature "hummed" refrain, Freed from Desire created a long lasting trend among other artist’s releases in the following years. The song was awarded Platinum and Diamond records and Best Dance Video at the MOBO awards in the UK.
